Kyrie Irving is officially a Celtic now, Celtics had to give up Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic and a valuable Nets pick in order to acquire the 25 year old superstar, but it might just be worth it.
Irving is one of the leagues most unstoppable players on offense, former Celtic lockdown defender Avery Bradley claimed Irving to be the toughest player to gaurd. Irving can score in every way possible, his three point game (40%), mid range and ability to drive to the hoop are all elite. We are all familiar with Irving's handles of course, said to be the best ball handler since Allen Iverson, even with all this Kyrie Irving could improve his game in Boston.
Kyrie Irving's should get even better shot selection in a heavy ball movement offense that the Celtics have, as the #1 option on offense now, Irving could have a career year scoring. With all due respect to fellow fan favorite Isaiah Thomas, Irving allows the Celtics not to worry about mismatches and who should be covering who, which could cause confusion during the game, Irving is also very expirenced for his age, and is a underrated leader in the lockeroom. As Danny Ainge said, he also better fits the Celtics timeline, which aims to build a dynasty for years to come with plenty of your assets. Kyrie will also be under contract for two more years before having a player option, he reportly is thrilled to be joining Celtics and had Celtics as a trade destination, which is a positive sign. Kyrie Irving was never really happy in Cleveland, now he joins a city full with heart, and he for sure will not disappoint.
