Goodbye, Avery Bradley

One of the most underrated Celtics players ever.

Avery Bradley came into this league being drafted by the Boston Celtics with the 19th overall pick in the 2010 draft. At the time Bradley didn't have a consistent jumpshot, but he was a gritty defender. He will quickly become one of the NBA's best perimeter defenders, it was a beauty to watch Bradley harass his opponents with his tight on ball defense, causing trouble for any ball handler he was assigned to gaurd. Former Boston Celtics coach Doc Rivers constantly praised the hustle and heart Bradley had for the game. Back in 2013, during Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett's last game in green, trailing the Knicks by over 20 points, Bradley sparked a 20-0 run, highlighted by stealing the ball from Carmelo Anthony for a breakaway dunk. In the end the Boston Celtics would eventually lose the game, but that run would become one of the most emotional runs in recent Celtics memory thanks to Avery Bradley.

As years passed, Avery Bradley improved his game every year, especially with his jumpshot, last year he would end the season shooting a league-high and career best 39% from deep, averaging 5.0 three point attempts per game while setting career highs in points (16.3) and rebounding (6.1). Bradley grew into a leader for the Boston Celtics, becoming a important veteran presence in the locker room. Avery Bradley will always be a fan favorite to Boston Celtics fans.

Avery Bradley was the glue that connected the big 3 era to the current Celtics team, playing a huge role in Celtics quick rebuild. It is certainly painful to watch Bradley leave, his defense and leadership will be much missed by Celtics fans. We wish Avery Bradley a successful NBA career with the Pistons, and forever be grateful for what he contributed to the Boston Celtics.

Goodbye, Avery Bradley. Once a Celtic, always a Celtic.
