Yes, i know, Celtics just drafted Jayson Tatum and it is too early to tell who is going to be the real deal in 2018. But hey, why not keep an eye on some possible future Celtics for next year? Celtics have Nets and Lakers 2018 draft picks that should both drop in or around the top 5.

Upcoming 2018 NBA Draft

(NBA comparisons are based on play style and similar strengths or weaknesses)

1. Collin Sexton

Collin Sexton

Collin Sexton is arguably the best point guard in this draft, standing 6'2, Sexton is an elite scorer. Sexton has a good first step and has great speed and quickness, even though sometimes inconsistent Sexton can shoot from deep. Collin Sexton is not a pure point guard though as he has to improve on his playmaking skills to stay at point guard, also being a slight turnover prone. Overall, if Celtics decide not to resign Isaiah Thomas, Sexton is certainly an interesting player to keep an eye on.

NBA comparison: Eric Bledsoe, Jeff Teague

2. Luka Doncic

Luka Doncic

Luka Doncic is a 6'7 forward Slovenian basketball player who won the rising star trophy in 2017, Boston Celtics Ante Zizic finished in 2nd place behind Doncic. Doncic can create his own shot from about anywhere, his offensive game includes floaters, catch and shoot, isolation, midrange, pick and roll, almost everything one can name, he has a great feel for the game with above average passing. Doncic only problem is speed. Doncic relies on his elite jumpshot, but is slow compared to most NBA player and might struggle.

Defensively speed could also cause some problems, but Doncic has quick hands and great instincts. Boston Celtics have been rumored to be interested in Luka Doncic, but with a roster already stacked with wings, it may not be the smartest move to acquire another forward.

NBA comparison: Danilo Gallinari, Devin Booker

3. Mohamed Bamba

Mohamed Bamba

Mohamed Bamba could be the best fit for the Celtics. Bamba is 7'0 Center that also is a defensive specialist. Defensively there is almost nothing Bamba can't do, he blocks shots, gets steals has a elite wingspan to alter shots. Bamba is an good athlete and has a midrange game. Bamba is also a great rebounder which should instantly help the Celtics. Bamba is limited offensively though, but he understands his role and tries to focus on his strengths. Celtics are a top 3 team in the east, which means most rookies that are well equipped offensively would have a harder time developing, but not Bamba as his role as a defensive specialist allows Bamba to do what he does best without the ball.

NBA comparison: DeAndre Jordan

4. Marvin Bagley

Marvin Bagley

Marvin Bagley is in my opinion the best prospect in this draft. Measuring at 6'10, Marvin Bagley can do pretty much everything. Bagley has good court vision and has good handles for his size, he also very athletic and has range out to the three point line. Defensively he can guard multiple positions and rebound the ball (Which Brad Stevens would love). While showing signs of greatness, his talent is still a bit raw as he looks to take his game up the the next level this upcoming season, and if so he just might become the number one pick, and someone Celtics would definitely look to draft.

NBA comparison: Marc Gasol, Joel Embiid

5. Michael Porter Jr.

Michael Porter Jr.

Most people would know Michael Porter Jr, he is the favorite to be the next number one pick. Michael Porter Jr. stands at 6'10, and is an excellent ball handler, a lights out shooter from anywhere inside half court and can also move without the ball. Michael Porter Jr. uses his great athleticism to get past defenders and can rise up and shoot over defenders with ease. He also has good vision and is a great rebounder that hustles for offensive boards. his only slight weakness is strength on defense, but that should be improved over time in the weight room. As of right now Michael Porter Jr. is the clear choice for the number one pick, the great shooting ability and athleticism at his size has NBA GM's drooling over him. if possible Celtics wouldn't hesitate to draft him, as he looks to become a future franchise player.

NBA comparison: Kevin Durant, Paul George
