Cavs Ex-GM David Griffin on Irving's request

(Above is the full interview with David Griffin.)

David Griffin on Kyrie's trade request:

"Most guys don't have the courage to do what he did. That's not youth and ignorance. That's a little bit more courage than people give him credit for. This is a guy that list included really good coaching situations - Brad Stevens and Greg Popovich."

Then replying to another question, David Griffin added,

"Again, the teams on his list - Gordon Hayward in Boston and Kawhi Leonard in San Antonio - he would be accompanied by other great players."

David Griffin most likely received the trade request from Kyrie Irving before he was terminated as GM, he revealed that Irving wanted a good coach, and mentioned Brad Stevens, then again mentioned that the teams on his list included Boston, which Gordon Hayward had just joined.

Kyrie Irving showing interest in Boston was not known till now, it was first reported that Irving only showed interest in Knicks, Timberwolves and Spurs. The fact that Irving does show interest in playing in Boston would be a comforting idea if Danny Ainge does decide to strike a deal for the 25 year old superstar.
