Danny Ainge reportedly signed 6'9 European league player Daniel Theis this summer. A decision that came out of no where. So who really is Daniel Theis?

Daniel Theis averaged 9.6 points per game, 4.6 rebounds and 0.9 blocks per game for Brose Bamburg in just 19.7 minutes per game. He helped Brose Bamburg win three consecutive titles from 2015 to 2017 and was awarded German leagues best defender award in 2017.

Daniel Theis is projected to be a stretch four in the NBA. Still young at 25 years old, he can shoot the three ball, connecting on 41% of his shots from deep last season, while also equipped with great defensive instincts, with above average leaping ability to alter shots, but whether or not his impressive defensive play could translate to a more physical NBA, is still a question. though not much of a rebounder, which the Boston Celtics desperately need, Theis could provide some scoring off the bench, not being a liability on defense, a bit similar to Jonas Jerebko's roles for the Celtics previous seasons.

If Theis can adjust to a fast past offense and stronger opponents, Theis will no doubt find minutes onto the court, he is the perfect stretch four coach Brad Stevens likes to work with, don't be surprised if Theis ends up playing Center too, as Celtics like to go small in certain lineups. There is much to look forward to the German star. With a lot of new faces on this Boston Celtics Roster, it is going to be an interesting season for sure.
